Panel members will present a picture of life before and after the ADA including legal changes, impact/lack of impact on health care access, and the overall the impact on people’s lives.  Discussion will include persons with disabilities and health care outcomes along with how health care providers can make their spaces and services more accessible.

Come and learn about the Clinical Scholar project that prepares expert clinical nurses to be clinical faculty.

Join members of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) to learn about The NIH All of Us research program.  This is a historic effort to educate communities about precision medicine and gather data from one million or more people living in the United States to ensure medical researchers have a data source that represents us all. By considering individual life differences, researchers may uncover paths toward delivering personalized preventative care and treatment for all populations.

Participants will be able to identify effective strategies for remaining centered and grounded amongst the current pandemic and cultural nuances, as well as being able to describe the impact of COVID on individual support systems. Participants will also consider healthy approaches towards sensitive topics while maintaining a level of authenticity.

Participants will be able to define sexual orientation and gender identity, and discuss how intersecting identities contribute to disparities in healthcare and in the workplace. Panelists will lead participants to make a plan for ongoing self-study around cultural humility and competence. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice having a culturally sensitive conversation about gender identity, sexual orientation, and other identity variables.
