Mauritha Hughes, MSEd, BSN is a Project Director at the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence where she leads diversity, equity, and inclusion educational programs, contributes to strategic planning, organizational change, and collaboratively leads the HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity Grant. Her passion for culturally competent care and positive health outcomes, drives her commitment to antiracism, inclusion, and equity. She is recognized as an exceptional consultant, coach, and leader in curriculum development and facilitating workshops for health professionals and leaders on topics of mitigating bias, cultural competence, workforce diversity, health equity, race, ethnicity, and language data collection. Mauritha has a diverse professional background which includes experience as a Senior Consultant leading the Diversity Learning and Development Program at Kaiser Permanente Colorado and Instructor at the University of Colorado at Denver, School of Medicine where she was the Director of the Gynecological/Urological Teaching Associate Program and a Standardized Patient Educator, leading large-scale educational events and clinical skills assessments for the medical school. Her clinical experience includes med/surgical staff nursing at Denver Health, school nursing for two large Colorado school districts; and psychiatric nursing at Fort Logan. Mauritha enjoys traveling with her family and loves to cook, and dance.
