My name is Jessica R. Overholt. My academic journey has been long and tedious. I grew up in Denver, CO and attended George Washington High School. After high school I attended the University of Northern Colorado and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science minoring in Chemistry. A year after graduation from UNC, I attended Hampton University, in Hampton, VA where I earned a Master of Science. Truly science, specifically healthcare, is my passion. I was the first person in my family to attend and later graduate from college. I decided after a recent divorce to pursue nursing as my academic focus. In this pursuit of nursing, I have earned a 4.0 GPA, my name on the President’s List, as well as an invitation into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Healthcare and science are fields that I am extremely passionate about. Inequity in healthcare is very important to me as health disparities continue to persist. Nursing allows me to put my life’s passions together and serve where I am needed most. When I am not studying, I enjoy running outdoors, biking, screenwriting, and spending time with my family.
