Dr. Cannon is an RN with over 35 years of experience and currently serves as the Jefferson County Colorado Coroner. She was elected in 2018 for a 4-year term. She is a long-time resident of Colorado for over 40 years. Her education includes an MSN in Nursing, MA in Management and a PhD in Healthcare Administration. She has experience as a Psychiatric nurse, Forensic nurse, and many other areas and types of nursing, along with years as a Nurse Educator and Leader. She is certified as a Medicolegal Death Investigator and serves as a Board Member on several boards such as the Governor appointed Colorado Coroners Standards and Training Board, the Federal Corrections Institution community Board, the Colorado Child Fatality Review Board, the Jefferson County Nurses board, the Outreach Chair for Sigma Theta Tau - Alpha Kappa Chapter, and others. She serves on many committees, including Suicide Prevention, Substance Use Prevention, and has a Partnership with the Veterans Administration Eastern Colorado Health Care System Suicide Prevention Program. She recently trained in fingerprint processing and verification, and is now studying to become Board Certified in Death Investigation.
Dolly currently works as a bedside RN and clinical scholar on the general ICU at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Previously, she has worked on telemetry and intermediate care units in both Denver and Baltimore, Maryland for four years. Dolly has served as a clinical and skills lab instructor for multiple student groups. She is interested in shaping new nurses, improving nursing policies to guide clinical excellence, and supporting the continual professional development of practicing nurses.
